Cross-disciplinary Integration

AFTEC Jockey Club Creative Futures Project

Creativity is more than just self-expression—it’s a vital skill for problem-solving, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Generously funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, this four-year project brings creative learning into classrooms across Hong Kong from primary to tertiary education institutions.

This Project is the extension of the Jockey Club Arts-based Cross Curriculum Creative Learning Project, a pilot from 2021 – 2024 where there is proof of concept in the creative learning model.

Testimonial

One of my biggest learnings is that students are more creative than I am.

Curriculum design is no longer a solo effort but a collaborative process shaped through shared ideas, experiments, reflection and an ongoing dialogue between teachers and myself.

I began to understand other education possibilities. In AFTEC’s lessons, students learn without devices, using the voice, body, visual arts, drama to express themselves.

I used to think creativity was about just letting your imagination run wild. Now I see creative teaching as a layered process of guidance, where the teacher shifts from transmitting knowledge to facilitating learning.

I used to be very afraid of being seen. In AFTEC classes, teachers encouraged me to express myself, share different perspectives and not judge an artwork solely based on numbers. Now I answer questions with enthusiasm!

After joining Cultural Day, I feel the world has changed. Having experienced it myself, I can now create something unique myself, and my writing has become so much richer.

For a long time I thought education in hk is doomed. Finally, I can see some lights in this darkness, thank you for making the start to change.

Postgraduate, Master of Education

I never realised that creativity could be so closely linked to communication, collaboration and observation. My daily life usually revolves around thinking about sports tactics and techniques, so I rarely get the chance to step outside my comfort zone.
