Creativity enriches my feelings and experiences of life, allowing me to see different possibilities in ordinary and seemingly trivial things. At work, it helps me think outside the box and stay flexible.
When studying Chinese history and culture, creativity enables me to interpret traditions from multiple perspectives. Instead of passively absorbing knowledge, I can understand the context and the human stories behind the culture. It also deepens my understanding of the plot and characters when reading stories.
Creativity is not just a simple feeling; it is a critical thinking mindset that broadens my horizons and makes everyday life fuller and richer.

To me, creativity is everyday wisdom that helps us think outside the box. It echoes what Zhuge Liang said in his military tactics: “First, one must understand how change works, then one can uphold what is constant.” It reminds me that in the face of an ever-changing world, we must not be stiff or rigid.
In everyday life, creativity is my way of adapting. Whether managing small but sudden disruptions or injecting freshness into daily routines, it teaches me to break out of established patterns and approach things from a new perspective. Just like responding flexibly and improvising on stage, this agile, adpative mindset helps me live with resilience and vitality.

To me, creativity is a bit like ordering Set B but getting Set D instead. It might not be what you expected, but it’s still worth a try. It can be an unfamiliar route home, a fresh approach to problem-solving, or simply turning what’s left in the fridge into a bowl of soup.
Theatre has made me a constant observer and taught me to believe in the possibilities of reimagining things. Creativity doesn’t have to be grand. Sometimes, it’s just about adding a touch of playfulness to the mundane, opening up another possibility. To me, staying creative means staying curious about life, so that the ordinary can become extraordinary.

Creativity is universal in drama. It inspires you to fully embody your character and perform your role with either extreme enthusiasm or a commitment to realism. Drama hasn’t changed me drastically as a person, but it has made me rethink a few things, mainly how I treat others. It has taught me to look at the world through a completely different lens and consider the hidden struggles that those around me might be facing.
I would say creativity through drama has helped me become an all-round person; I am now less hesitant when it comes to making changes and decisions in my everyday life.

Re-imagine Theatre
Last month, my wardrobe door suddenly came loose, and I realised with shock that the screw hole was stripped. I filled the gaps with clay and glue, slowly turned the screw back in, and the door was fixed. As I tightened the screw, I was once again amazed by the cleverness behind the invention of the screw. It wasn’t the product of a sudden flash of genius from a single individual, but rather an evolution that began with ancient Greek water-raising devices and progressed until the mid-18th century, gradually forming the now-familiar combination of screws and screwdrivers.
We benefit from creative ideas that span time and space every day. Coupled with our own small creative twists, they are often enough to get our stuck daily routines back on track. So-called “creativtiy” is never a mystery.

As a field ecologist, I often encounter unexpected situations when working outdoors. Creative thinking, combined with practical tools, often helps me solve problems and overcome difficulties. In my research, when resources are limited, others might rely on expensive equipment, I try to use my imagination to design low-budget tools and methods that are just as effective, or even better suited to the needs of the study.
Many people assume that scientists are always stiff and rigid, but scientific research actually requires an open and creative mind. It is only by being bold enough to propose various possibilities, formulate hypotheses, and verify them with meticulous care that we can come closer to the truth of nature.

Creativity is not just about artistic creation; it is also a mindset and a habit. It is the habit of listening, observing, feeling, and thinking. By seeking to understand things a little more and letting go of fixed assumptions, even difficulties can become an engaging journey that challenges me to think beyond old frameworks and solve problems in new ways. With creative thinking, I am able to discover intriguing surprises every day.

Creativity is the key that sparks curiosity in everyday life. Exploring the world with creativity has helped me become more motivated and proactively discover various possibilities in life. I have also come to realise that there is no absolute right or wrong in creativity; every attempt is a valuable experience.
Over the past year, participating in the AFTEC Jockey Club Creative Futures Project has been immensely inspiring for me. The creative thinking tools, “See, Feel, Think, Wonder”, have changed the way I understand things, allowing me to uncover creativity in daily life and spark infinite possibilities. I have also begun to apply what I have learnt in my teaching, hoping to ignite students’ interest in learning and guide them on their journey of exploration.

In the past, I believed that creativity was an innate talent I did not possess. However, after participating in AFTEC’s programme, I realised that creativity can, in fact, be cultivated. By observing, feeling, and thinking, I have not only moved closer to becoming more creative but also become more open to new experiences. Now whether in daily life or in my teaching, I constantly seek multiple perspectives and explore diverse possibilities.

The activities we did at school can help us in our daily life. Making stars and animals with clay helped me use my hands carefully and be creative. Looking at trees in the school garden and making them with paper helped me learn about nature and observe things around me. These activities also taught me to be patient, use my imagination, and enjoy learning by doing.
Making clay models helped me be creative and improve my hand skills. Looking at trees in the school garden and making them with paper helped me learn about nature and pay attention to the things around me. These activities will help me in my daily life by making me more creative and observant.

Creativity makes my daily life more joyful and adds vibrant colour to it. When I face difficulties, it helps me think outside the box and remain persistent. Whether I am crafting or doing homework, I can draw on my imagination. Creativity allows me to discover happiness in the little things of everyday life. Even in the face of challenges, I can approach situtaions from different perspectives, stay flexible, and find beauty within them. Creativity is like a magical treasure that accompanies me every day.

Creativity is indispensable in my life. Whether in something as small as a playful joke or as significant as artistic creation and planning, it is always guided by creativity. It transforms limitations into spaces for self expression and connects seemingly unrelated elements into artistic expression. In my musical work, every arrangement, every note sung by different voice parts, and every performance style is shaped by creativity, then systematically presented on the score. This act of creating from scratch is, in fact, rooted in the active observation I cultivate in everyday life.

Creativity is not limited to the realm of the arts. To me, it’s the very fabric of how we think every day. In daily actions, like rushing to pack a bag, my mind unconsciously finds hidden structures, remixing routines to achieve speed and accuracy. The subconscious curation in the way is how we shape and organise our lives.
Yet this constant curation is a double-edged sword. On good days, it creates a flow that inspires me; on others, the mental load leaves me exhausted. Life is about learning to embrace both states. Creativity teaches me to playfully reorganise chaos, but it also reminds me when I need rest. It is a rhythmic balance between action and recovery that keeps me moving forward.
